Unfortunately Apple did not provide us with a breakdown of those numbers, but according toApple’s CEO Tim Cook, it seems that for the most part the iPhone 6 proved to be the most popular device. According to Cook, “Obviously to sell 74.5 million devices, they were all popular. Both did incredibly well. We’re really proud of them, along with the iPhone 5s and 5c.”
This is actually pretty interesting as it lines up with initial sales of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus where the former was in the lead. It was presumed that this was because of the latter’s general unavailability and long waits that could have prompted customers to go for the iPhone 6 instead, but given that it has been several months now, we guess the 4.7-inch form factor is preferred, plus it is cheaper too.
Cook also mentioned that there were some geographical preferences too in which some regions preferred the smaller iPhone 6, while others leaned towards the larger iPhone 6 Plus. While he did not mention any particular markets, it has been found that the iPhone 6 Plus isslightly more favored in Asian countries.
