It’s been over one year since Apple and IBM announced a partnership that would put a bigger focus on iOS and the enterprise. Looks like Apple wasn’t quite done in that department, though.
On Monday, August 31, Apple officially announced a new partnership with another company known for its roles in the enterprise field, Cisco. The Cupertino-based company sent out a press release announcing the partnership. With this new deal, Apple and Cisco are opening up “fast lanes” for enterprise customers by way of “optimizations” to Cisco networks for iOS devices and applications.
Essentially, this means that iOS devices should work even better on Cisco technology implemented in workplaces across the country:
“iOS is the world’s best mobile platform, and nearly every Fortune 500 and Global 500 company today has put iOS at the center of their mobile strategy,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “iPhone and iPad have become essential tools for the modern workforce and are changing the way work gets done. Together with Cisco, we believe we can give businesses the tools to maximize the potential of iOS and help employees become even more productive using the devices they already love.“
On top of that, Cisco and Apple are aiming to make the iPhone an even better collaborative tool while using Cisco’s voice and video technologies, which will aim to make the experience between the user’s iPhone and their desk phone “seamless.”
It’s an interesting partnership, and Apple’s growing focus on the enterprise market is apparently not going anywhere anytime soon.
