Voice Dream Writer has a set of proofreading tricks that can help you check your writing: text-to-speech reading, phonetic word search, and outlining. The text-to-speech simply reads your text back to you to help you find mistakes. It works surprisingly well and is a little more helpful than just reading it out loud to yourself. The phonetic word search is also really handy when you can't seem to figure out the word you're looking for. The outline is perhaps the most useful, especially if you're the type to move sections of text around.
