Alcatel OneTouch: The Cheapest Smartwatch To Date

When ALCATEL announced their new ONETOUCH Watch at CES 2015, they indicated they had plans to make it available in the U.S. market through a new online store. Those plans have come to pass as a couple versions of the smartwatch are now listed on the web site. The small/medium band version of the ONETOUCH Watch is listed as “coming soon” for the previously announced price of $149.99. Potential buyers can go ahead and add the smartwatch to their cart to pre-order it, which ALCATEL indicates will be available on April 30th.

ALCATEL is also planning to sell a version with a medium/large band. However, they have not yet started to accept orders for that version. If you are interested in the device though, you can sign up for updates on when it might be available.

The ONETOUCH Watch is a round face smartwatch with a 1.22-inch diameter display. ALCATEL wanted buyers to be able to use the device with both Android and iOS powered smartphones, so the smartwatch runs a proprietary operating system that will work with both Android 4.3 or higher and iOS 7 or higher. ALCATEL includes several sensors in the device, including an accelerometer, a gyro, an altimeter, a heart rate sensor, and an E-compass. The device supports NFC, has a vibration motor, and is IP67 certified for water resistance. According to ALCATEL, users should be able to get 2-5 days of life between charges depending on use. The biggest draw though will likely be low price point for entry into the smartwatch market.
