FlipBoard Launches It's Web Version

The popular news reading service Flipboard is becoming more than an app on your iPhone or iPad today as it launches a web version for the first time. Flipboard first launched on the iPad in 2010 and later released a version specifically for the iPhone, and now Mac users can access Flipboard from any browser with today’s launch of the web version.

Current Flipboard users can simply log in through Flipboard.com and access the same content from the mobile apps including Cover Stories and sources you follow including websites, Twitter feeds, and topics like technology, sports, and more.

New users can also access the newly launched web version of the site with options to log in through Facebook or Google+ or just create an actual Flipboard account. Once you personalize your feed with content to follow, the changes will be kept across the web and the mobile apps.

Unlike the mobile apps, Flipboard for the web doesn’t repackage articles in a stripped down view, though. The Flipboard website does present news and content in a compact interface for quickly browsing through headlines with previews and images shown, but you’re taken to the actual source once you’re ready to read a full article. Some content, however, from sources like the Associated Press will be presented in the stripped down version through the Flipboard website.
